Born in 1963 and raised in Mamaroneck, NY, Alexander Whitney Knowlton led a less aristocratic life than his name might imply. He received his B.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts in 1987 and returned to teach a Graphic Design Portfolio class there from 1995 to 1997.
